{"id":110,"date":"2009-10-07T13:54:11","date_gmt":"2009-10-07T17:54:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.litchfieldhistoricalsociety.org\/blog\/?p=110"},"modified":"2016-12-08T16:38:43","modified_gmt":"2016-12-08T20:38:43","slug":"a-very-blustery-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.litchfieldhistoricalsociety.org\/?p=110","title":{"rendered":"A Very Blustery Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today has been a true fall day in Litchfield.\u00a0 The leaves are changing colors and beginning to cover the ground.<\/p>\n<p>And it is windy.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Litchfield is known for having some pretty windy days in the fall.\u00a0 At one of the highest elevations in Litchfield County, the town is subject to many of the weathers whims and fancies.\u00a0\u00a0 Today, the wind has been strong and fairly constant.<\/p>\n<p>At lunch as the staff was sitting around the lunch table a huge gust surrounded the building and the power was briefly knocked out.\u00a0 We are used to these occurrences and like today, they are usually brief.\u00a0 The power was back on in no time but as lunch wrapped up there appeared to be some activity on the north side of the green.\u00a0 Upon walking outside for further inspection, we saw this:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-107\" src=\"http:\/\/www.litchfieldhistoricalsociety.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/img_95993-1024x535.jpg\" alt=\"img_95993\" width=\"1024\" height=\"535\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.litchfieldhistoricalsociety.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/img_95993-1024x535.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blog.litchfieldhistoricalsociety.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/img_95993-300x156.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A tree next to the Congregational Church has been knocked over by the force of the wind, landed on the adjacent electrical lines putting too much stress on a nearby utility pole causing it to snap in half!\u00a0 The state troopers were already on hand to reroute traffic to the other side of the green and the utility crew was busy working on the problem.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-109\" src=\"http:\/\/www.litchfieldhistoricalsociety.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/img_95944-1024x453.jpg\" alt=\"img_95944\" width=\"1024\" height=\"453\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.litchfieldhistoricalsociety.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/img_95944-1024x453.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blog.litchfieldhistoricalsociety.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/img_95944-300x132.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Just another lovely fall day in Litchfield.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today has been a true fall day in Litchfield.\u00a0 The leaves are changing colors and beginning to cover the ground.
