Orderly Book Transcript

November 16th 1776         This Day was the Day

that our friends & fellow Soldiers was either killd

or taken who were on York Island.  This Fatal day

was a most dismal day to us.  In it fell the Flower

& Glory of our Regiment, the chief and the best

officers and Soldiers that their was in our Regiment

NB I came from there on the 14th so I escaped with

just the skin of my teeth. &c
